Baramulla, Jul 15 (KNO): Municipal Council (MC) Baramulla on Tuesday directed all commercial establishments to install CCTV cameras within a week, failing which a strict action under law will be initiated against defaulters.
The council, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), states that the issuance of the same under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla and in light of increasing incidents of theft, drug peddling and fire-related emergencies in and around the town’s main markets.
“In the interest of law and order, all shops, business units, and commercial premises must install surveillance systems without delay,” reads the statement from the Municipal Council, stressing that the move aims to build “a safer and more secure Baramulla for all.”
The notice, however, warns of strict consequences for businesses failing to comply. “No trade license will be issued to non-compliant establishments and no sanitation services will be provided by the Municipal Council; besides, strict legal action will be initiated against violators after the stipulated time.”
The authorities have called for full cooperation from the business community, urging them to support the collective responsibility of upholding law and order, ensuring better emergency response and safeguarding livelihoods in the region—(KNO)
